The global banking and financial services institution with a power of more than 100,000 people across 70 countries, is boosting up its employees to speak up about themselves. The bank wants them to talk more about their likes, preferences, lifestyle, problems and feel “human”. The initiative that has been recently launched by the Deutsche Bank is known as “Real People Real Experiences”. The agenda is to know more about the 8000 people strong work-force, as communicated by the CEO, Gunit Chadha, in written, to the employees.
As per the Human Resource Managing Director of Deutsche Bank Makarand Khatavkar, “In a large organization like ours, it is hard to know all your colleagues.” The company’s intranet portal is now more personalized and looks like a dossier where the employees have posted vivid experiences from their life at and outside of the bank.
The Mumbai offices of Deutsche Bank have gone a step or two further and introduced other employee activities too. They have organized fun games and events, salsa classes and radio shows, a light way to train employees on teamwork and communication. Some sessions with a more managerial perspective, have also been carried out at certain branches. Yoga classes and personality development sessions have also been organized, considering the health and welfare of employees.
As per Anjali Mohanty, head of Global Transaction Banking, India “Under the theme of leadership across levels, we set out to look for some such leaders across Deutsche by showcasing some of the real experiences people have had in leading diverse teams, implementing complex projects, driving innovation and motivating people.”
Employees are inevitably pleased with the new, positive change. They see it as an investment that will have a lot of motivating impact on the existing number and surely attract fresh talent, as the youth today is attracted to a good working environment.
