According to Imran Khan, his upcoming film Ek Mein Aur Ekk Tu with co star Kareena Kapoor is quite similar to the hit film, Jab We Met. The 2007 film directed by Imtiaz Ali that has become a cult classic was critically acclaimed and became a blockbuster.

Jab We Met, with its catchy dialogues and Kareena’s brilliant acting became extremely popular amongst the youth. Featuring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in leading roles, the story of the film revolved around the characters of Geet and Aditya, who meet by chance and influence each other’s lives and end up falling in love. Ek Mein Aur Ekk Tu, on the other hand, is the story of Rahul and Riana who spend a night together on the streets and end up being in love after that.

The two films, though similar in approach and spirit are different in their setting. Ek Mein Aur Ekk Tu, which will be releasing on 10 February, is based in Las Vegas and Mumbai, whereas Jab We Met was based in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.

“Ek Mein Aur Ekk Tu is an urban Jab We Met. According to me, the journey and relationship graphs of both films are almost identical. In fact, if we were to look at the two movies only in spirit, then our film is almost a sequel, or a younger version set in an urban milieu,” said Imran Khan.

He also focuses on Riana being an ‘urban Geet’ from Jab We Met. “Riana changes everyone that she touches in life. To be honest, Geet, Kareena’s character in Jab We Met has become iconic and was almost a turning point in her career. The character Riana will do the same with an urban Audience,” added Imran.
