Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan celebrated her birthday on 1st November with close family members. Unlike most celebrity events, be it birthdays which are usually always star-studded affairs, the Bachhan – bahu celebrated her birthday with a lot less fanfare. Aishwarya’s birthday was celebrated with a small party at the Taj Hotel attented by close ones and closed off from the Bollywood community. Aishwarya said in an interview, “It is a special day for me, because it means so much for those around me, who try their best to make it special for me, it makes me wants to thank god for all the blessings even more”. She also mentioned that father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan was the first one to wish her this year.
Aishwaya had earlier celebrated her birthday in advance on the 29th of October, in a promotional event for Lux along with hubby Abhishek Bachchan. Both Aishwarya and Abhishek are brand ambassadors of the leading soap brand and were seen together on-screen in an advertisement promoting the brand for the first time as a pair. The event organised as part of an ongoing contest saw winner Shubhayu Dutta meeting the couple. As a true fan Shubhayu had brought a birthday cake for Ash and she was pleasantly surprised by the gesture.
Though on the wrong side of thirty-five Aishwarya’s acting career is still going strong. Proving the myth that Bollywood actresses don’t find work after marriage to be wrong, she is already enjoying the success of Robot (Endhiran) opposite superstar Rajinikanth. She has two more releases lined up—Action Replayy and Guzarish. Vipul Shah’s Action Replayy is a comedy drama set in the 70’s and it has Aishwarya flaunting the retro fashion style with élan along with Akshay Kumar. Guzaarish, on the other hand, is a musical with mentor Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In the movie Aishwarya plays a magician’s muse to Hrithik Roshan’s paraplegic character. Also, 2011 sees the former Miss world coming together with husband Abhishek in as many as four movies. Though speculations were rife after her wedding that she would quit acting in two years time, Ash has been able to prove such rumours to be nothing more than rumours. It, in fact, seems that she is busier than ever before and the thirty-seventh year of her life is going to be quite “event”ful.
