In an age when we pride ourselves on our broad mindedness, is losing virginity still connected with one’s moral character? It has to be accepted that losing virginity especially before marriage because our culture doesn’t allow for premarital sex.

Kids as young as 15 or 16 lose their virginity without even being physically prepared enough to handle the consequences that may result from such actions. While some people may call it a westernisation of the way the Indian youth thinks, others are of the opinion that this is a consequence of release of years of controlled expression of one’s feelings, which is possible in a freer state like what India presents to the world today.
The youth today like to experiment with how they want to express their feelings towards their partners and because of its novelty factor more often than not, sex becomes the solitary channel of this expression.
Whether losing one’s virginity is a big deal or not is best decided by the person concerned, this can be an experience to cherish for life if initiated into by the right person or may scar one for life and affect one’s future sexual health.

It’s all a matter of what your conscience says to you, when the voice in your head says what you are doing is right, and then you should not have second thoughts about anything at all. Losing your virginity is only as big a deal as you make it. It is a natural part of reaching one’s maturity, however the process can be made into a once-in-a-lifetime affair when the two people indulging in the intimacy have taken the necessary precautions and are doing what they are doing not because of peer pressure but because they want to.

People have lost their virginity and as long as humans live on the planet, more people will lose their virginity. It is what nature intended to be. However this, coupled with the finer emotions of love for a person can perhaps make losing one’s virginity a big deal and in the best way possible.
