Ever thought that growing crops on Farmville in Facebook, is going to save somebody’s life? Here is the chance to help precious lives by doing just that! Now every time somebody buys special crops on Farmville, someone in earthquake-hit Japan will be able to get the much-needed succour.

Eight online games on the popular social networking site, Facebook, have been assigned to raise funds for the disaster-hit victims of Japan.

Special crops are being offered by the games like Farmville and Cityville which have already begun raising funds by offering special crops. The players have the option of paying through credit cards and the entire collected amount would be forwarded to the Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children’s Emergency Fund.

The unique initiative was done after a partnership between Zynga, a social network game developer and an NGO called ‘Save the Children’.

An official from the NGO said that they have estimated that a large number of children have been affected by this catastrophe. The NGO’s priority is definitely to help them and address their psychosocial needs.

The NGO is expecting generous donations from the billions of people who are addicted to the online games like Café World, Frontier Ville, Zynga Poker, Z Bar, Yoville and World with your Friends.

Facebook has revealed that the popular game of Farm ville has around 50 million devotees and 40 million are addicted to Zynga Poker. Frontier ville and City ville too have a considerably large following with 20 million and 10 million fans respectively.

To contribute for this cause, one does not only need to harvest crops. One can even place Japanese inspired decorations in their café or even have the option of purchasing access to a VIP table in Zynga Poker.
