Being the first ‘corporate lady of India’ is not an easy task. The responsibility a title of such status endows upon a person is magnanimous in proportions, but for someone like Nita Ambani, it is almost as easy a piece of cake.
Wife of one of India’s most powerful businessman- Mukesh Ambani- Nita Ambani has been borne into the qualities, attributes and intellect that guide effortless management of multiple tasks. After all, she did learn from the very best. And today, when one can see her sport her charming smile at a high society event, she can be found minutes later working about at Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation or Dhirubhai Ambani International School, following which she adorns the duties of a homemaker and a warm mother. It is not easy donning multiple hats every day, but Nita Ambani makes it look so graceful and undemanding. This is symbolic of her substance-rich personality.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is here again. Rising from a bottomless pit of controversies like a phoenix from the ashes, IPL finds its place again in the hearts of passionate Indians who are rearing up for the event scheduled just after the World Cup. Amongst the many teams, the ones who have been making quite the raves are the Nita Ambani owned ‘Mumbai Indians’.
The first lady of corporate India, Nita Ambani, is almost always captured on camera with a smile on her face. Always impeccably dressed, Nita Ambani, wife of the Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani, insists it is life itself that gives her such a high. She has a lot going in her life and has much to look forward to. With responsibilities to hone at home and at work, she is a busy woman.
With the IPL 4 around the corner, Neeta Ambani is running hectic schedule. Neeta Ambani has just recently added around 11 uncapped players to her team for this year’s team. although, a questionable decision at first, it might just prove to be an ace up their sleeve as the young guns would fire with all their might to prove their mettle.
Neeta Ambani has included the following in her squad of the Mumbai Indians: Ambati Rayudu, R Sathish, T Suman, Dhawal Kulkarni, Pawan Suyal, Abu Nechim, Ali Murtaza, Sarul Kanwar, Yuzvendra Chahal, S K Yadav and Aditya Tare.
With Sachin Tendulkar heading the way, Nita Ambani can be sure that her team would prove to be quite a competition to the all teams in the tournament. A person representing the Nita Ambani owned franchisee said, “We are delighted to add 11 talented players to our squad for IPL season 4. We believe the addition of new players will further strengthen our core beliefs, besides ably supporting the exceptional all round talent, which we have successfully bid for at the IPL 4 auction. By adding fresh talent, we reinforce our promise to promote young talent at an international platform.”
Only time will tell if the freshness in the squad takes them to the top or make them fall like dominos in the IPL mega event.

Nita Ambani has always been a woman of substance. With multiple roles to be played in a mammoth conglomerate called Reliance, she has become an integral resource of the Reliance Empire that cannot be done without. Apart from being a warm homemaker and a philanthropist like her husband, she is woman who knows the capabilities and power her name poses for the larger welfare. It’s a wonder how Neeta Ambani manages to show so much dedication to her work in spite of having several personal responsibilities in the same platter. She is definitely a lady every girl looks up to because to strike such a balance between work and life with so much ease is not just a herculean task in itself but a commendable one to.
Nita Ambani was born in a middle class family on 1st of November 1963. She grew up in the suburbs of Mumbai with a modest way of life. It was in her early twenties that Nita Ambani married the man who would one day become the face of corporate India – Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani.
Neeta Ambani herself is referred to as the “first lady of corporate India”. There can be no questions asked as to why that is so! Being a part of the reputable house of Reliance, India’s largest private sector company, she is the woman with uber amounts of command wrapped in shrouds of philanthropy.
Nita Ambani dons many hats. Apart from being the chairperson of the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Neeta Ambani has been working tirelessly towards raising the standard of living of the underprivileged and needy as part of the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation. For the same cause, she has taken upon the task of providing for a fair share of representation to the physically challenged in call centers and associated facilities in the Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City located in Navi Mumbai. She has even supervised the development of villages around the RIL projects personally along with taking a keen interest in projects that focus on uplifting people located in the vicinity.
Truly, she is a timeless woman whose grace and efforts speak volumes of her wonderful self.

Nita Ambani, wife of Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL) head honcho Mukesh Ambani, has managed to acquire for her cricket enterprise- ‘Mumbai Indians’- one of the strongest IPL teams this season, rendering many jealous.
Player auction was conducted for straight two days last weekend, where 127 players were bought and a staggering Rs.283.73 crore was spent for the T20 tournament, slated for April 8 this year. Existing IPL teams were dismembered and players were put up for auction to be bought off by existing team owners and latest entrants in the IPL band wagon- Pune and Kochi.
The curtains came down on the auction on Sunday, with Mumbai Indians clearly emerging as the strongest outfits among the 10 franchises- on paper and purpose. The team ranks ahead of others on the count of strong, proven players with much better potential as compared to those from other franchises.
A smart move came from Nita Ambani when she made the decision to retain some of the existing players like Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard. They were the most inviolable players in the last two seasons of IPL and retaining them was a liable step. The team was further strengthened when it was joined by the likes of Munaf Patel and Clint McKay. Munaf Patel is one of the most sustainable bowlers in the Indian cricket team and having him on board with Rohit Sharma, Andrew Symonds, James Franklin and Davy Jacobs was a judicious strike by the franchise.
The team is one of the best buys this season besides Chennai Super Kings and Bangalore Royal Challengers, but it beats the competition with just one stride that goes by the name of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin has been in his best form this year, with massive wins and accolades to his credit. Bhajji has squirmed his way in to the list of champions with a tremendous performance in the Test series against South Africa, making the duo impressive components of the team.
Nita Ambani has definitely worked her smart moves in purchasing a sustainable, versatile and capable team this season. Her tremendous efforts had gotten Mumbai Indians into the finals last IPL season, and this time around as well, her investment in the team is likely to reap excellent returns. Being the wife of Mukesh Ambani and coming from the house of Reliance has rendered her with proper tactics to approach and cultivate a versatile franchise into an integrated, successful one.

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani led Reliance India Limited (RIL) has ranked second in the Fortune India 500 list compiled by business magazine ‘Fortune’ in its December 2010 edition released on Thursday.
In the first-ever Fortune list of Indian companies, RIL contended one of the top spots second only to Indian Oil Corporation that managed the top slot as compared to State Bank of India and Bharat Petroleum Corporation who acquired third and fourth places, respectively. The list includes listed companies and privately-held firms and their rankings are based on the total revenues incurred by the organizations. Other evaluation check marks include year-on-year change in revenues, net operating income, profit, assets, net worth, dividend and total salaries.
Reliance Industries entry on the second spot is an encouraging feat for the corporation, which stands tall with its numerous outings and a successful business structure credited to its strong arm leader.
An average revenue of a company on the Fortune India 500 list standing at Rs.7,632.50 crore is an indicator of the massively growing Indian corporation structure that have managed to strategically mature along the lines of global corporate heads. “The total revenue of the Fortune India 500 companies stands at Rs.38,16,239.40 crore (nearly $850 billion). This is nearly 60% of India’s GDP”, quoted the magazine.
The list goes on to include Hindustan Petroleum, Oil and Natural Gas Corp, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Hindalco Industries and ICICI Bank as its remaining slot bearers in the top ten list.
This list is a transparent gauge to indicate how much Indian companies have evolved and successfully grown into profit making corporations in the last decade. Joining now in the league of elite 500 corporations of the world, Indian companies, like RIL, have carved a successful share in the global market as the futuristic industrial moguls with an ambitious standing among the confederation of global giants.

Antilia is the new face of Mumbai and pretty soon, we would be singing laurels about the man who gave us this one of a kind residence to talk about. India is none the less a nation filled with hypocrites. When we see a man driving a Porche, we wonder if he is a politician. We wonder if he has connections with the underworld, and we wonder how in the world did he gets so rich.
We are so immensely curious that we may even click pictures and post it all over the internet to show the world how rich people spend their money. But think for a second. Are we any different? Do we share our wealth with the poor or do we splurge the money on a luxury that we needed since god knows when. But, when someone who can truly splurge on his own dreams, we do not cease to detest the actions of that individual and blatantly deem it a crime to society if nothing more.
Since time immemorial, the prejudice against the rich and powerful has prevailed in India. Even the Indian cinema has followed suit to our perception of the rich and the influential, thus portraying the rich as bad and the bad as always rich. Our cinema used to revolve around a broke protagonist on a quest to achieve name, fame and fortune. The bad guys, “The Rich” get in the way as the protagonist discovers that they smuggle goods to get rich quick while the hero slogs at a dock to make ends meet. With this picture firmly pasted in the minds of Indians, we always seen to meddle up the reel with the real world and hence we fail to see the difference.
Mr. Mukesh Ambani is a man of honor and grace who has the right to chose the way he spends his hard earned money. I am no employee of reliance nor am I a close associate of Mr. Ambani himself. I am just a man who values the constitution and the respects the right of expression that it provides. So what if it’s an expensive home? Mr. Ambani’s Reliance feeds the stomachs of thousands of people who serve his great empire. Being the second largest value creator of the world is no joke and no one has the right to judge a man of his caliber and question the way he spends his money.
The real picture remains hidden always, why do the politicians of India always get away in-spite of them clawing away wealth from the common man. Why are their kids studying in UK while the people they are chosen to serve rot in a hell hole? Why are the people who should be pointed at the ones who pointing fingers? In a place where people like Kalmadi and Lalit Modi are making news while the common man is being squished under the weight of inflation, corruption and population alike, there exists at least one man who has earned his way to the top rather than simply taking from the poor.

The Star has struck again. The Commander of the Reliance Industries brigade is soon to become the hospitality leader as well, the reason being that he will now be the majority shareholder in EIH, at par with the Oberoi Group.

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and the Oberoi family will increase their shareholding in East India Hotels by buying the unsubscribed portion of the Rs 1,300-crore rights issue, which was cleared by the hotel major’s board today. EIH has decided to form a committee to decide on the rights issue price, ratio and other procedural formalities.

It has been confirmed by dependable sources that RIL will be making an open offer after the rights issue, as its stake will go beyond the 15 per cent threshold mandated by the market regulator. And hence, RIL and the Oberois will eventually have an equal stake in EIH.

The impact of the Mukesh Ambani’s acquisition of a 14.8 per cent stake in EIH has had the share of the Oberoi’s drop down to 32 per cent from 46.43 per cent in August. Also, ITC, which holds 14.8 per cent, may not be interested in raising its stake. Similarly, Analjit Singh, who controls 4 per cent, will also prefer to exit EIH.

It has also been in news that EIH is planning to float two new companies. One would operate the hotel chain and would be controlled by EIH, while the other would hold the hotel chain’s assets and be controlled by RIL, with Nita Ambani, wife of RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, drafted as vice-chairperson.
This is the icing on the cake for Mukesh Ambani as RIL will be in the driver’s seat as far as ownership of EIH is concerned, while the Oberois will operate the hotel chain. “It’s a deal between two friends – P R S Oberoi, who needs funds to expand his chain’s footprint abroad, and Ambani, who has the funds, and is happy to let the Oberoi family manage operations,” said a source.

The Oberoi’s, who are the pioneers of luxury hospitality in India, also manage the EIH Associated Hotels. This is another hotel company which is an equal-stake joint venture between them and the Raheja family, which has interests in real estate, the media and industrial batteries.

Now, with this rise in stake in the hospitality sector by RIL, Mukesh Ambani has made it pretty clear that his plans in the sector are long term and only time will tell how Reliance will be makes the best out of this venture as well.

Reliance Industries Limited India’s largest private sector enterprise in partnership with IBN18 honored 24 Real Heroes of India. Real Heroes is a movement to acknowledge the unsung champions of the common man who strove tirelessly to promote the welfare of others. These Real Heroes were shortlisted by the editorial team of CNN-IBN, and they were spread across six categories including, Women Welfare, Social Welfare, Health and Disability, Youth, Education and Children & Sports.
The Real Heroes all represent an inspirational story of selfless service, these range from a mechanic in Jharkhand who has set up an orphanage with his own meager resources to provide education, food and shelter to children who were left orphans due to polygamy or alcoholism to a person who has been fighting to preserve the environment over the past three decades. From a hockey coach who is on a mission to train players free of cost to an 80 year old gynecologist who is fighting to rehabilitate mentally challenged women and provide them vocational training so they can be financially independent, and many more who have dared to stand up for the betterment of the society were awarded as the Real Heroes. Speaking on the initiative on behalf of Reliance Industries, Nita Ambani, President of the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation said, “I feel proud today – proud to be an Indian.

It’s incredible how many things a person can manage at the same time. From supervising the construction of a new wing at Mumbai’s Hurkisondas Nurrotumdas Hospital, run by a trust controlled by the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation to making sure that the Mumbai Indians are in perfect shape for the Champions League; and all this while carrying a queen like grace all the time. Nita Ambani is in true sense a luminary of the business world.

Then there is the Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) as well, the project that is closest to her heart. Also, there are the affairs of the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation, which she chairs, to go through. And, of course, the numerous family and other commitments that are part and parcel of being wife of Mukesh Ambani and the first lady of the RIL Empire.

Meeting with Neeta Ambani I hear is not the easiest of tasks. Many weeks and numerous calls later, one may be lucky enough to get a confirmation from her. So when you reach the clean, clutter-free and resplendent waiting room of her office, one cannot cease to wonder at the might of the Reliance Empire of which this may be a small yet significant part.

There are no hassles as with meeting with celebrities. No delays, No cancellations and definitely no last minute change of plans. Mrs. Ambani is a woman who respects time. Both hers and of others; and even while being in the midst of all the madness happening around her, Nita Ambani’s serenity is commendable.

“Everything at Reliance is always a bit of a whirlwind. So many things are happening all the time that you have to constantly shift focus,” she laughs, quoting the reason for all the wait and phone calls that had gone through to reach her.

Nita Ambani seems an accidental businesswoman. She got dragged into project execution almost two decades after she married Mukesh Ambani. Now she runs a not-inconsiderable enterprise with myriad activities. Most things she runs directly — the hospital and the school — are not technically businesses, unlike the Mumbai Indians franchise. But they are enormous and complex organizations nonetheless, employing hundreds of people.

They are private entities and trusts, so it is notoriously difficult to get an accurate handle on numbers. Intelligent estimates are, nevertheless, possible. It is estimated that over Rs 750 crore in revenues and over Rs 1,000 crore in annual investment budgets is being supervised by Nita Ambani which can definitely termed small.

While having the richest Indian for her husband, to being an idol in herself as well, Neeta Ambani will soon prove to be a valuable asset to even the reliance group which is headed by her husband, the mighty Mukesh Ambani. It would hence be quite interesting to witness the changes that Mrs. Ambani would bring along to reliance in case she thinks of joining in the brigade. But even for now, her efforts and accomplishments are the talk of the town and with her grace and business acumen, reliance industries limited may be well on its way to include hundreds of more ventures in the near future.
